Thermoregulation – brood rearing

Overwintered

This is an example of a more moderate onset of brood rearing seen on an overwintered colony. After the winter break, the queen starts laying in January and the colony responds with keeping the nest warm. Colony has a good buildup with a lot of potential. Splitting off a few frames in the spring is a possibility without harming colony performance during nectar flow.
